Papesh, Anton (1867 - 26 OCT 1942)

Anton Papesh was born in Jugoslavia in the year 1867 and died at the Enoch home in Greenwood on Oct. 26 at the age of 75 years from a heart attack.

He grew to manhood in Jugoslavia and arrived in America some 50 years ago.

He was married to Miss Mary Fortuna in Calumet, Mich., where they lived for some time and later moved to Duluth, Minn., where they resided for a short duration, having moved to Willard in the year 1915, where he lived until his health failed.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Anton (Antonia) Panyan, of Duluth, nine grandchildren and two sisters.

His wife died about 20 years ago, his only son, Joseph, two years later; two daughters died in infancy, and one daughter, Mrs. Eli (Steffie) Bogdonovich died 12 years ago.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 29, at 9:30 p.m., with a requiem high mass, the Rev. Raphael Stragisher celebrant at the Holy Family Catholic church in Willard, and burial was in the parish cemetery beside his wife and son in the family lot.

The pallbearers were Louis Koschak, Sr., Frank Zupanc Sr., John Gregorich, John Zupancic, John Dolence Sr. and Frank Kokaly.

Those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Anton Panyan and son of Duluth.
