Martens, Charlotte (Marriage - 27 April 1946)

Miss Charlotte Martens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Martens, Neillsville and Donald Gress, son of Mrs. Elsie Gress, Neillsville, were married Saturday, April 27, at 2:30 p.m. at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church. The Rev. N. J. Dechant officiated at the single ring ceremony.

The bride’s gown was styled with a fitted bodice of sheer eyelet embroidery, with a sweetheart neckline, long sleeves, and a peplum at the waistline. The full skirt was of net with a train. She wore a fingertip veil, held in place by a band of flowers, the same as her bouquet, which was red roses, white gardenias and tulips, with ribbon streamers.

Miss Isabelle Martens, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Miss Doris Wegner and Mrs. Oris Anding, Marshfield, were the bridesmaids. The best man was the groom’s cousin, Oris Anding, Marshfield. Donald Martens, brother of the bride, and Delbert Struble were ushers.

The wedding march was played by Mrs. Ray Arndt, and Miss Elaine Wachholz sang "At Dawning."

After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents for about 150 guests.

The couple left for a two week’s wedding trip in Wisconsin and Minnesota. After May 19 they will be at their home on North Grand Avenue.

Both the bride and groom are graduates of the Neillsville High School and have been employed in Neillsville. The groom spent three years in the army.
