Harold Schultz

Dorchester - Harold Rueben Schultz, 83, Dorchester died at 3:45 a.m. at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen where he had resided since January.

Funeral services for Harold will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Peace United Church of Christ, in Dorchester with Rev. Robert Everhard officiating.

Burial will be in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alvin Zugier, Guy Rankl, Jim Heindl, Jerry Rankl, Urban Heindl and Gordon Anderson.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 4-9 p.m. Friday at the Maurina Funeral Home in Dorchester, Wis.

Harold Rueben Schultz was born on Christmas Day in 1916, the son of Albert and Mary (Severt) Schultz, in the town of Holton, Marathon County. Harold and the former Hilda Louise Neuhaus were united in marriage on Dec. 30, 1935, in Wausau.

They farmed in the town of Holton and retired in 1976, moving to the village of Dorchester, Wis. Harold also raised mink, hauled milk and worked in Hopfensperger Thick and Thin Sawmill in the town of Holton.

He enjoyed woodworking and gardening and will be remembered for his entertainment with the concertina. Harold’s special love was for family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Peace United Church of Christ.

Harold will be dearly missed by his family including his three sons, Jerry (Judy) Schultz of Abbotsford, Allen "Ollie" (Barb) Schultz of Colby and Tom Schultz of Owen; a daughter, Sue (Jeff) Zimmer of Owen; 12 grandchildren, Annette (Armando) Montes dé Oca, Colleen (Mike) Koening, Brad (Christina) Nelson, Darlene Schultz, Gail Schultz, Kevin (Vickie Flewellen) Schultz, Henry Schultz, Beth (Lannie Tomczak) Mrotek, Heather Mrotek, Tobi Schultz, Tawnee Schultz, and Jacqui (Patrick) Fons; 11 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Anthony, Aaron and Alyssa Montes dé Oca, Corina and Nathan Nelson, Kody Schultz, Yukon and Torrie Tomczak and Chelsa and Renegade Fons.

He is further survived by an "adopted" niece, Donna (Darwin) Nelson of Genoa City; a brother, Earl (Trudy) Schultz of Mims, Fla.; and two sisters, Myrtle Smith of Dorchester and Verna Scheibe of Abbotsford, Wis.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Schultz, on March 22, 1990; a daughter Janet Schultz, on Jan. 30, 1997; and a sister, Helen Auberson.

Maurina Funeral Home of Dorchester assisted the family with arrangements.
