Knoll, Dorene H. (Marriage - 14 Jan. 1956)

Miss Dorene H. Knoll, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Knoll of Colby, and Donald R. Newman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Newman of Unity, were united in marriage Saturday afternoon, Jan. 14th, Rev. Paul Mall officiating at the ceremony. "The Lord’s Prayer" and "Because" were sung by Miss Betty Rex with Miss Elaine Gosse as organist.

When the bride approached the altar on the arm of her father, she was wearing a waltz-length gown featuring a full net skirt topped by a lace bodice. Two matching lace panels detailed the bouffant skirt. Lace also trimmed the crown that secured her finger-tip veil. She carried a bouquet of red roses and white carnations tied with white satin ribbons.

Attendants for the couple were Miss Evelyn Christensen of Marshfield and her fiancé, LaVerne Knoll of Colby, a brother of the bride. The former donned a mint green waltz-length net frock complimented with a headpiece of pink and white carnations. The same kind of flowers composed her bouquet.

Completing the wedding party were the ushers, Russell Lynn of Unity and LaVerne Knoll.

Corsages containing pink and white carnations accented the ensembles selected by the mothers of the newlyweds, Mrs. Knoll being present in a navy blue dress and Mrs. Newman in a brown dress.

A dinner and reception was given at the home of the bride’s parents. Guests were from Union Grove, Ashland, Gunee, Abbotsford, Unity, Riplinger, Loyal, Spencer and Marshfield.

The groom is a graduate of Unity High School and the bride attended Colby High School. On their return from a wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin, the couple will take up residence in the town of Unity where the former assists his parents in the operation of their farm.
