Slocomb, Elgie (28 APR 1900 - 20 JAN 1947)

Elgie Slocomb, 45, died Monday January 20, 1947, of a heart attack at Pasco, Wash. He was born April 28, 1900, in the town of Grant, Clark Co., Wis., to Austin and Frederica Slocomb. He lived there until 1912, when he went to Beach, N.D., with father, brothers and sisters, his mother having passed away three years before. When he was 18 years old he went to the Wyoming oil fields and worked for the Ohio Oil Company. In 1930 the oil company transferred him to the fields in Venice, Calif. He worked there until he suffered a severe heart attack in 1937 and spent many months in a Los Angeles hospital. During his convalescence he went to Caldwell, Idaho.

At the beginning of the war he went to Pasco, Wash., and took a job in the Hanford, Wash. Plant, where they worked on the atomic bomb. Since the end of the war he has worked in a government warehouse in Pasco.

On Oct. 28, 1921, he was married to Lydia Mabel Holt of Green River, Utah, and to this union a son, Harold, was born. He was killed on Luzon Feb.1, 1945. Mr. Slocomb leaves to mourn seven brothers: Asa of Ellendale, N.D.; Charles and Austin of Beach, N.D.; Ernie of Redondo Beach, Calif.; George, Arcadia, Calif.; Orlin, Eugene, Ore; Herlin, Seattle, Wash. Also three sisters: Lydia, Mrs. E. D. Barton, Los Angeles; Lettie, Mrs. Arthur Devine, Hermosa Beach, Calif.; Caddie, Mrs. John Broers, Currie, Minn. An aged aunt, Mrs. George Howard of Neillsville also survives. In addition to his son Harold, his parents, two sisters, Hazel, Mrs. George West of Pleasant Ridge and Daisy and a brother Walter preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 22 at Pasco, Wash.
