Brouette, Emma (30 JUN 1883 - 26 MAY 1942)

Mrs. Bert Brouette, nee Emma Pizer, was born in Richland county, Wisconsin, on June 30, 1883. She grew to womanhood there and came to Loyal about the time of the first World war. After living here for several years, she went to Waupaca, where she remained for the past 10 years of her life.

She was successfully recovering from an operation at St. Michael’s hospital, St. Point, when she became ill with pneumonia and died Tuesday, May 26, 1942.

After leaving Loyal, Mrs. Brouette became an employee at the Soldiers’ Home in Waupaca, where her husband, a Spanish-American was veteran is a resident. She was loved and respected by those who knew her in Waupaca, as she was by those who knew her here. In speaking of her death, an officer of the Soldier’s Home said it would be difficult to replace her sunny disposition, her faithfulness to duty and her ability to perform that duty.

Mrs. Brouette was a member of the Methodist church. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbor Society.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church May 29 at 2 p.m., following a service at 1:30 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Herbert Herdrich. The Rev. Orlando Jewell officiated. The hymns were sung by The Rev. and Mrs. Jewell, with Mrs. A. D. Wicklund as accompanist. Burial was in the Loyal cemetery.

She is survived by her husband; twin daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Ethel) Herdrich of Loyal and Mrs. Arthur (Ethel) Klimmer of Marshfield; one son, Byron Deets, of Marshfield, of Marshfield; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. William Smith of Neillsville, and two brothers, Fred Pizer of Richland Center and Milon Pizer of Portland, Ore. One son, Bernard, died when a small boy.

O. W. Trindal, J. R. Colby, Hal Voight, Joe Motchenbacher, Edgar Vick and William Essex served as pallbearers. Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Edgar Vick, Mrs. Clayton Bassett, Mrs., Frank Schultz, Mrs. Clara Brussow, Mrs. Joe Motchenbacher and Mrs. William Tucker.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: W. J. Spry and Dale Spry, both of Lansing, Mich.; Mrs. Otis Tucker of Mount Clemans, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Sid Worrall and Mr., and Mrs. William Dankemeyer, Detroit, Mich.; W. W. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Merton Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Young and Mr. and Mrs. Chet Spry and daughter all of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Deets, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Deets and Mr. and Mrs. Buford Deets, all of Bloom City; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Spry, Ruth Spry, Robert Spry, Maxine Walleck and Mr. and Mrs. Phelps Spry, all of Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Clement Mosher and Fred Pizer, all of Richland Center, and Mr. and Mrs. G. Shipley, Mrs. Clarence Roberts, Miss Helen Kroll, Mrs. Harry Hopkins, W. Mantz, Mrs. Kate Price, Mrs. Mary Luther, Mrs. C. Jentz and Mrs. Rose Lavon, all of Waupaca.

Two sisters, a nephew and a niece of Mr. Brouette from Milwaukee also attended the funeral.
