Abbotsford, Wis. -- Jack E. Wild, 71, of Abbotsford, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, as a result of a tractor accident while he was doing repair work at his home outside Abbotsford, Wis.

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Abbotsford is assisting Jack's family with arrangements.

Abbotsford, Wis. -- Jack E. Wild, 71, of Abbotsford, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, as a result of a tractor accident while he was doing repair work at his home outside of Abbotsford in the town of Mayville.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Jack will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2008, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Abbotsford, Wis. The Rev. Gerard Willger will officiate. Helen Schultz will be the organist for soloist Tim Schindler. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in the town of Little Black in Taylor County.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2008, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. There will be a St. Bernard's Parish rosary service at 7 p.m. followed by a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. both Sunday at the funeral home.

Jack was born Oct. 13, 1936, to John and Eleanor (Nichols) Wild in the town of Holway in Taylor County. Jack attended schools in the area. On June 20, 1956, Jack married Lucille Maxam at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester, Wis.

They lived in the town Little Black in Taylor County. In 1961 Jack started the Abbotsford Oil Co. in Abbotsford, Wis. They moved to Abbotsford in 1963 where Jack continued to be the owner/operator of the Abbotsford Oil Co. for 42 years. In 2004 Jack continued in business with Wild's Fuel in Abbotsford, Wis. Jack was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church as well as a longtime usher for the church. Jack was a lifetime member of the Abbotsford Sportsman's Club and a longtime member of the Abbotsford Ambulance Service where he volunteered his time as an emergency medical technician. In 2005 Jack received the Community Service Award and was named Outstanding Citizen of the Year. Both Jack and Lucille were awarded the Business of the Year by the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce in 1997.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Lucille of Abbotsford; two children, Debra Wild-Yaron of Abbotsford and Donald Wild of Abbotsford; four grandchildren, Jason, Zach, Andy and DJ; two great-grandchildren, Kendall and Cooper; two sisters and one brother, Lillian (Bill) Clemans of Sun City West, Ariz., Betty (Donald) Grinker of Milwaukee and Arthur (Marge) Wild of Stetsonville. Jack is further survived by many nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends. He will be missed by his special companion, his dog "Pickles."
