Vera E. Oestreich

Vera E. Oestreich, 89, of 1504 North St. Joseph Ave., died Monday, June 9, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center Health and Rehabilitation in Neillsville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Krueger officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Mary Castner and soloist, Duane Helgerson.

Burial will take place in Loyal Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Jeffrey Janke, Denis Janke, Ralph Bryant, Lawrence Adamski, Raymond Oestreich and Bradley Bradshaw. The visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mrs. Oestreich was born Feb. 23, 1919, in the town of Loyal, Clark County, to John and Anna B. (Johnson) Luchterhand. She attended Loyal Grade School and was a graduate of Loyal High School. She also was a graduate of Stevens Point College. She and Dennis Oestreich were united in marriage Nov. 19, 1941, in Marshfield. He died May 5, 2000.

She taught in rural and state grade schools several years and at Immanuel Lutheran School in Wisconsin Rapids for 10 years. She and her husband then owned and operated Tri City Oil Company in Wisconsin Rapids for 15 years until their retirement in 1970. In 1972, they moved to Marshfield, where Vera resided until she entered the nursing home in Neillsville in March of this year.

Vera was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, its Ladies Aid, and a past member of its Women's Club.

She is survived by her sister, Janet Bradshaw of Merrillan; a niece, Candice (Denis) Janke and a nephew, Bradley Bradshaw. She is further survived by four great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-niece.

She was predeceased by her parents and her husband.

A memorial in her name has been designated to Christ Lutheran Church.
