People are emigrating from Kansas and other prairie countries and coming to northern Wisconsin.

Doc. Freeman returned from Michigan, yesterday. We are sorry to say he has decided to move to that state.

Potter & Ferguson Bros. are giving employment to about thirty men, at their mill, to whom they pay cash. Who says it does not help the village.

The merchants are beginning to get their awnings up in front of their stores and soon the flapping of canvas will give our village more the appearance of summer.

The market has not been over stocked with maple sugar, this spring, the sudden transition from winter to summer cut the sugar business in the "flower of its youth."

Henry Siegrist has purchased the property of Doc. Freeman, on the corner of Spence and Second streets, where we believe he intends to carry on the drug business with the aid of an experienced druggist.

J. S. Edminster has demonstrated that root crops will keep sound and good in the ground all winter. While plowing the other day, he turned up several potatoes that were just as sound as they were last fall.

Al. Gray and Emery Foster left on Monday, of last week, for a trip to the Menomonee, Mich., gold fields, prospecting for a good job at something where the pay will equal the work, and leave a little margin for a wet day and pool.

This is the time of year when the assessor comes around passing out blanks and asking all sorts of questions, and property owners, who six months ago, told their riches are now silent as the grave and worth no more than the rest of us.

Mr. Albert Becherer, from Sheboygan county, has purchased the property of Henry Siegrist, on the corner of Front and Clark streets, also his stock of boots and shoes, and will hereafter carry on the boot and shoe business in the same place.
