On August 6 at 1 p.m., Miss Marcella Jean Lipkie, daughter of Mrs. Florence Lipkie, Neillsville, became the bride of Pvt. Rudolph Carl Opelt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Opelt of the town of Levis. The wedding vows were read at the Evangelical and Reformed church. The Rev. N. J. Dechant officiated. It was a double-ring ceremony. The pews were decorated with pink, blue and white bows. Baskets of assorted flowers banked the altar.

The bride wore a long white bridal gown styled with long sleeves which came to points over the wrists. She also wore a white veil. She carried an arm bouquet of white gladioli and red roses. Her maid of honor was Miss Hannah Hediger, a schoolmate. The groom was attended by his brother, Bernard Opelt. Two little girls, Beverly Bemis and Jenny Lee Opelt, acted as ringbearers. Each carried a ring.

A wedding reception was held at the home of the groom’s parents that evening for about 40 guests. The house was decorated with pink, blue and white streamers and large white bells.

Music at the ceremony was furnished by Miss Alice Lukas, who sang "At Dawning" and "I Love You Truly." She was accompanied by Mrs. Marian Zaske.

The couple left for a short wedding trip in southern Wisconsin. The bride accompanied her husband to Camp Adair, Ore., when he left on August 13.

Mrs. Opelt was graduated from the Neillsville high school with the class of 1945 and has been employed at the A&P store for the past year. Her husband graduated from the Neillsville high school in 1944. He has been in army service for 4 ½ months.

Relatives from out-of-town who were here to attend the ceremony were: Miss Lucille Cloussen and son, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Mack, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mack and daughter and Miss Lewella Mack, all of Waupaca, and Mr. and Mrs. Armond Miller of Withee.
