Frost, Sylvia M. (24 SEP 1945)

On Monday evening, Sept. 24, 1945, at 7:30 p.m., the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) was the scene of a candlelight service when Miss Sylvia Marie Frost, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Frost, became the bride of William Bruce Fisher Jr., of Des Moines, Iowa. Rev. Arthur E. Frost, an uncle of the bride, performed the double ring ceremony.

After a fifteen minute prelude of nuptial organ music, Vernon Frost, a brother of the bride, sang "At Dawning," accompanied by Mrs. Walter Heideman, who also played the wedding march and recessional. As the couple knelt at the altar, Vernon Frost sang "The Lord’s Prayer."

The bride, who entered on the arm of her father, wore a gown having a fitted satin bodice and full ninon skirt which fell into a long, ruffled train. Her only jewelry was a pearl necklace, a gift of the groom. She carried a shower bouquet of white gladiolas, red and white roses, and swansonia.

Miss Marjorie Reitan, a friend of the bride, as maid of honor, wore a gown of peach taffeta. Miss Esther Mikkelsen and Miss Palma Andreasen, friends of the bride, were bridesmaids. They wore identical gowns of aqua crepe. Each carried a colonial bouquet of roses and gladiolas with hair corsages to match.

The groom’s attendant was Vernon Frost.

The home, the church, and the assembly hall were beautifully decorated with candles and baskets of roses, gladiolas, and garden flowers.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Assembly Hall for 200 guests. A wedding dinner was served to members of the immediate families and the bridal party at noon. At 6 p.m. a buffet supper was served to 30 guests.

Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Fisher Sr., of Des Moines, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Verie Marlence of Adel, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Harley Benson of Richmond, Calif.; Rev. and Mrs. Arthur Frost, Evelyn Frost, Herluf Frost of Waterloo, Iowa; Miss Esther Mikkelsen of Askov, Minn.; Miss Marjorie Reitan of Marshfield; the Misses Margaret Zeillsdorf, Erna Flatter, Nell Cutler, Neva Jane Burrough, Harriet Coey, Margaret Pynn, Deloris Sather, Eleanor Muszynski, Emma Larsen, Betty Marcks and Alice Clark of Wausau.

Pre-nuptial events included a linen and a crystal shower given by Misses Mildred Rosenthal and Betty Marcks at Wausau, a miscellaneous shower given by a group of friends in Eau Claire, and a shower given by neighbors and friends.

The young couple will make their home in Kansas City, Mo., where the groom will be employed at the Transcontinental and Western Airlines. Mr. Fisher was recently discharge after serving five years in the Army Air Corps, 18 months of which were spent overseas.
