Von Rueden, William Jacob (21 Feb. 1890 - 14 June 1945)

William Jacob Von Rueden, 55, of Neillsville, died Thursday morning June 14, at the Neillsville hospital. He had been ill for about three years. Funeral services were held Saturday morning, June 16, at St. Mary’s Catholic church, the Rev. Fr. J. A. Biegler officiating. Burial took place in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were: Frank Kubat, Tony Hartung, Frank Dobes, John Krejci, Tony Erpenbach and Ed. Zschernitz.

Mr. Von Rueden was the son of John and Elizabeth Kramer Von Rueden, and was born February 21, 1890, at St. Mary’s Ridge, Cashton. His early life was spent there. On April 20, 1915, he was married to Christina Schreier at St. Mary’s Ridge. They farmed for a few years at Norwalk, and 16 years ago came to Clark county. They resided on a farm a few miles south of Neillsville unti the spring of 1943, when they moved to Neillsville. He had been in failing health the past three years.

He was a member of St. Mary’s church and of the Holy Name society. A rosary service was held Friday evening at the Schiller-Terhune funeral home, where the body was lying in state.

Surviving are his wife and two children, Marie, who has been employed in Milwaukee, but who has been at home during her father’s recent illness, and Sgt. Clarence Von Rueden, who is in the army in the south Pacific.

Surviving also are three brothers, John and Bernard, of Cashton, and Joseph of Wilton, and four sisters, Mrs. Pauline Johnson, Austin, Minn., Mrs. Mary Kneifel, Milwaukee, Mrs. Theresa Mullenberg, Norwalk, and Mrs. George Schreier, Cashton. One brother and one sister preceded him in death.

Relatives from out-of-town who were here to attend the funeral services were: the deceased’s three brothers, and one sister, Mrs. George Schreier, and Mr. Mullenberg and son, Winard, Mrs. Andrew Beaver and daughter, Audrey, Miss Theresa Schreier, and Mr. Joe Schreier, Cashton, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Van Rueden, Wilton, and Mrs. Anna Van Rueden, and son Fren, of Melvine.
