Bahr, John (1911? - 11 AUG 1946)

John Bahr, 35, was drowned in Bullhead Lake, about 1 miles west of Chelsea, last Sunday evening. Although not able to swim, he had gone into the water after his son, who had called for help after drifting a considerable distance away from the shoreline on a makeshift raft. His son was able to reach shore. It is though the elder Bahr stepped into a deep hole, as he was not a great distance out when he went down.

Stanley Thielke of Medford, who with his family was in a boat fishing a short distance away, heard the screams of Bahr’s son and other members of his family who were on the shore, and immediately rowed over to the spot where Bahr had disappeared. His body was quickly recovered and brought to shore where Thielke applied artificial respiration.
