Second Lieut. Ervin S. Hennlich, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hennlich, formerly of Curtiss and now of Milwaukee, flew a C-47 transport plane at the initial stage of the invasion. He towed glider borne infantry and paratroopers on D-day. On the return trip one of his motors went dead, and his plane was protected by fighter planes, so that he was able to get back to England in safely.
