Knott, Gwen (Marriage - 3 June 1944)

Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Flynn, of Neillsville, Wis., announced the marriage of their son, Staff Sgt. John H. Flynn to Miss Gwen Knott of Brisbane, Australia.

The marriage was solemnized at the First Methodist Church at Brisbane, Saturday, June 3, at 7:15 in the evening, the double ring ceremony being used. The bride was given in marriage by her brother, William Knott, who had just returned from duty in New Guinea. Another brother acted as best man and Enid Knott, a cousin of the bride, as bridesmaid.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Knott, Sr., of Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia. She is a registered nurse, having completed her training in March of this year at the general hospital in Brisbane. The couple have known each other for two years.

A reception was held at the home of the bride’s sister, which was attended by the family and intimate friends of the bride, after which the couple departed for a honeymoon, having taken a house at the Beach. When Sergt. Flynn reported back to Sidney, his wife accompanied him there, where they spent four days together before his departure back to his duties with the 135th Medical Regiment. Mrs. Flynn will continue her duties at the general hospital at Brisbane, and arrangements are being made for her to come to the United States at the time when John Flynn will be returning.
