Barager, Maud #2 (22 JUN 1889 - 17 JUN 1946)

Mrs. V.P. Barager, wife of the publisher of the Owen Enterprise, died at 2:45 a.m., Monday, June 17, 1946, following an extended illness.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 22, at St. Katherine Episcopal Church, Owen. Pallbearers were Judge O.W. Schoengarth and Walter Beilfuss of Neillsville, Arthur Jensen of Eau Claire, Bandi Shereda, L.W. Cattanach and Harry Randall of Owen.

Mrs. Barager underwent a major operation in Rochester, Minn., in May 1945, and had been confined since that time. She was born June 22, 1889 in Black river Falls. Last Sunday the Barager’s observed their thirty-fist wedding anniversary, having been married June 16, 1915 in Withee. It was in that same year that the newspaper plant of the Barager’s was moved from Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) to Owen (Clark Co.), where the family has resided since.

Mrs. Barager was an active member of the Altar Society of St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church at Owen and of the Easter Star.

Fr. K.O. Crosby was in charge of the services at St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church and the Easter Star conducted the services at the grave.

Survivors include her husband and four children: James R. Barager, Owen; Mrs. Charles (Alberta) Wood of Eau Claire; 1st Lt. Joyce and John at home.
