Zajaczkowski, Edward (21 AUG 1922 - 29 SEP 1945)

Edward Zajaczkowski, 23, died shortly after the noon hour on Saturday, Sept. 29th, 1945, of injuries received when the saw broke on the sawing machine upon which he was working on the Joe Twarowski farm in the town of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.).

Edward is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Zajaczkowski of the town of Thorp. He was assisting in the sawing of wood at the Twarowski farm. A piece of the saw grazed his right arm and lodged in the right leg, severing an artery. He died of loss of blood before reaching the office of Dr. Neis in the village.

He was born in the Town of Thorp and attended the local schools, graduating from the Thorp High School with the class of 1940.

His future was full of promise and we dare not ask why he was taken from us in his prime, unless, as flowers are picked before the frost finds them that we may not witness their decay. It is sad, indeed, to see one so well equipped for life taken so unexpectedly.

Death is a hard master. He would take from us of our brightest and best, but he cannot ever mar memory. It will serve as a balm to our wounded hearts.

He is survived by his parents and one brother, Chester, who is now in the army in Anchitka, Alaska.

Funeral services will be held at St. Hedwig’s Church on Friday morning, Oct. 5th at ten o’clock. Burial will be made when the deceased’s brother arrive from Alaska.
