Stookey, Wesley (? - 9 FEB 1945)
Mr. and Mrs. D.D. Stookey received a telegram Sept. 8th from the Adjutant General, Washington, D.C., reporting the tragic loss of their son, Captain Wesley Stookey. The delayed reported stated that Captain Stookey died on Feb. 9, 1945, while a prisoner of war of the Japanese Government.
Captain Stookey was taken prisoner early in the war on Corrigidor and was reported as missing for many months before it was learned he was alive. He was transferred from one camp to another during three and one-half years but had communicated with his parents at various time thru the Red Cross. Their anticipated reunion after war hostilities had ceased has made the shock of his reported death doubly severe to his sorrowing family and they have the deepest sympathy of the community in their loss.
