MRS. HENRY SCHEEL DIES AT AGE OF 86

Loyal Octogenarian Survived by More Than 85 Descendants

Loyal--Mrs. Henry Scheel, 86, died at her home here yesterday of complications attendandt upon old age. She had been in poor health for years and had been confined to her bed for nearly a year.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Viking theater building here at 2 p.m. Sunday, with Fred Petson, Juneau, in charge.

Mrs. Scheel, nee Sophie Gade, was born at Rugen, Germany, on March 14, 1850, and was married to Henry Scheel there in 1869. They came to the United States in 1876, lived for six months at Horicon, and then for eight years at Mayville before coming to Loyal.

They settled on a farm a mile and a half southeast of the village, and Mr. Scheel died there in 1912. Five years later Mrs. Scheel moved into the village, which has since been her home.

Five of their 10 children survive. They are: William, Ralph and Robert, Loyal; Mrs. Robert (Emma) Haslow, Loyal, and Mrs. Albert (Ella) Komis, Unity. There are 40 grandchildren and more than 40 great-grandchildren. A sister lives in Iowa.
