Burrington, Fred Robert(1 June 1947 - 2 April 2008) Fred Burrington

Fred R. Burrington, age 60, of the town of Butler, rural Thorp, died at his home on Wednesday, April 2, 2008.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Faith Evangelical Free Church in Stanley. Pastor Craig Lindgren will officiate, and burial will follow in the town of Butler Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dan Burrington, Joe Komanec, George Komanec, Tim Jones, Steve Jones and William "Billy" Timm.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 7, at Thorp Funeral Home and at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to the service.

Fred Robert Burrington was born on June 1, 1947, in East Grand Forks, Minn., to Pirl and Helen (Morgan) Burrington. He received his elementary education at River Heights School, and graduated form East Grand Forks High School in 1965. After high school, Fred attended Chippewa Valley Technical College. He was united in marriage to Marylou Rowell on Feb. 2, 1974, in Grand Rapids, Minn. They moved to the town of Butler, rural Thorp, in 1980. Fred worked as a heavy equipment operator at Bergman Blacktop, Allied Blacktop and 18 years with Mathy Construction in Onalaska - the last 12 years as a paver operator and running the hot and cold roller. While at Mathy, Fred built a legacy of true friends. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 139 for 35 years. Fred was a devoted Christian and had many interests - especially spending time with family and friends, NASCAR, Packers football, hunting, fishing, ice fishing and traveling.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 34 years, Marylou of rural Thorp; two sons, Robert (Sheri) Burrington of Marshfield and Chad (Nicole) Burring ton of Fort Drum, N.Y.; four grandchildren, David and Nathan Rasmussen, Leland Burrington and Marie Field; one son-in-law, Nathan Field of Eau Claire; one sister, Jean (Ralph) McIntyre of Elk Mound; two brothers-in-law, Dewayne Parent of Thorp; and special brother-in-law and friend, Clarence Rowell of Eau Claire; his dear nephew, Dan Burrington of rural Thorp; and one sister-in-law, a Beverly Burrington of Colfax.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his special daughter, RaeLynn Burrington; one brother, Rueben Burrington; and three sisters, Marjorie Burrington, Betty Burrington and Jeanette Parent.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be set up in Fred's name for his grandchildren.
