Messer, Mary Ann (Marriage - 6 Sept. 1954)

The Rev. James Sheridan, pastor of Christ the King Catholic Church, Spencer, performed the double-ring ceremony and sang the Nuptial High Mass Monday morning, September 6, during which Miss Mary Ann Messer became the bride of Robert J. Endreas.

Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Messer, Spencer and the groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Endreas, route 1, Spencer.

The bride, escorted to the altar by her father, wore a floor-length bridal gown that had a lace bodice topped with a Bertha collar and the long sleeves coming to points at the wrists. Lace panels were inserted in the front and back of the skirt, which had lace appliqués and scallops of tulle tiers at the side. The fingertip veil was attached to a cloche type head-piece which was trimmed with seed pearls.

White gladioli and carnations surrounded the white orchid of the bridal bouquet, which was cascade shaped.

Cover-up jackets topped the strapless bodices of the waltz-length frocks worn by the bridal aides - Mrs. Herbert Meyer, sister of the bride, as matron-of-honor, and Miss Janet Lynn Graves, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Charles Hansen, Marshfield, a niece of the groom, as bridesmaids.

Mrs. Meyer wore a shrimp colored gown that had a bouffant skirt of tulle. Mrs. Hansen and Miss Graves were in aqua. Their headpieces matched their gowns, and each carried a bouquet of yellow and salmon-colored gladioli and white stephanotis.

Herbert Meyer, Marshfield, was best man. Groomsmen were Gerald Ehlert and Charles Hansen, also of Marshfield. Performing the ushering duties were Ernest Messer, a brother of the bride, and Eugene Endreas, a cousin of the groom.

For her daughter’s wedding Mrs. Messer wore a light brown silk shantung dress with brown accessories. Mrs. Endreas wore grey with black accessories.

A reception was held at the Messer home and dinner was served at 1 P.M. at the dining hall of the church.

Both the bride and groom are graduates of Spencer High School. Mrs. Endreas also attended Gale Institute and has been employed at Graves Mercantile Co., Spencer.

They will live on route 3, Marshfield, where the groom is engaged in farming.

The Register joins their many local friends in extending congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy wedded life.
