Fahlgren, Mary Caroline (Marriage - 4 July 1953)

Mary Caroline Fahlgren, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Floyd Fahlgren of Mondovi, Wis., became the bride of Wilbur Ward, son of Dr. and Mrs. J. E. McDermid of Ladysmith at a double ring ceremony Saturday, July 4th at 2:30 P.M. at the Methodist Church in Mondovi. The bride’s father, Rev. Fahlgren, officiated.

The bride’s sister, Mrs. Phillip Burt, of Phillips, acted as matron of honor and wore a floor length gown of lace net over blue taffeta with matching long mitts of blue lace and carried a bouquet of pink roses and painted daisies.

Karen Fahlgren, the five year old sister of the bride, dressed in a floor length net over orchid taffeta gown, was flower girl and carried yellow daisies.

The bride was dressed in a floor length gown of nylon lace and net over white satin with a scalloped neck line and long sleeves ending in points at the wrists. The gown had a fitted bodice and full skirt. The finger-tip veil of net was attached to a Juliet cap of lace and net trimmed with seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of pink roses and white daisies. She was given in marriage by her uncle, Wayne Fuller of Janesville.

Phillip Burt, Phillips, a brother-in-law of the bride, was the best man.

The ushers were John Fahlgren, Mondovi, brother of the bride and Donald Suane of Eau Claire, cousin of the groom.

Mrs. Rodney Fuller sang "Oh Perfect Love" accompanied by Miss Joyce Lindsey of Eleva at the organ.

There was a reception for eighty five in the church parlors after the ceremony.

The bride is a graduate of the Ladysmith High School and attended the Wausau School of Business Administration, after which she was secretary to the Superintendent of Schools at Ladysmith for the past year.

The groom is a graduate of the Ladysmith High School, attending the Iowa University at Ames, Iowa for two years and the University of Wisconsin for one year after which he was inducted into the U.S. Army.

The groom is on a short leave from Camp Carson, Colorado and the couple will leave for there July 8th. The bride, who expects to stay with her husband until he is transferred, chose as her going away suit, a light grey with white accessories.

Guests attended from Minneapolis, Beloit, Milwaukee, Madison, Janesville, Wausau, Ladysmith, Phillips, Camp Carson, Colo., Unity, Eleva, Mondovi and Eau Claire.

The bride is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Fuller of Unity and her parents were former Unity residents, the Rev. Fahlgren having been pastor of the Unity and Colby Methodist Churches for four years.

The Register joins their local friends in extending congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy wedded life.
