Warner, Rose Marie (Gorsegner) (27 MAR 1890 - 18 NOV 1985)

Rose Marie Warner died Nov. 18, 1985. Warner, a member of the local Order of the Eastern Star for nearly 16 years, died in her home of a hear attack. She was 95.

Warner moved from Tucson to Tombstone about 16 years ago.

She had been a member of the Eastern Star organization since 1948.

Warner worked for seven years at the Tombstone Senior Citizen Center as a door hostess until about a year and a half ago.

She was awarded a plaque in 1983 by the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for being the oldest active worker in four counties: Cochise, Graham, Greenlee and Santa Cruz.

She also was a member of the Tombstone Community Congregational Church;

"Warner was born in Miles City, Mont., and ran a horse ranch there with her husband," said Helen Jendrzejak, a longtime friend.

Jendrzejak quoted Warner as saying the Indians used to chase her when she would get supplies from town in a wagon with her babies on her lap.

"She was a very unique, bright lady," Jendrzejak said. She added, "Tombstone’s really going to miss her."

Warner is survived by sons William Warner of Vail, Ariz., Texas, and daughter Goldie Rose Magee of San Rafael, Calif.

"Warner also had about 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren," Jendrzejak said.
