Prior, Dorothy (26, Sept. 1924-03 March 2013)

Dorothy L. (Kronberger) Prior, 88, formerly of Loyal, died on the Sabbath, March 3, 2013. Visitation will be held at York Center United Methodist Church on Thursday, March 7, from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Loyal Cemetery. A luncheon will be served afterwards at the American Legion in Loyal. Please join the family and share your memories of Dorothy.

Dorothy was the eldest child born to Lulu and Leo (Michael Leonard) Kronberger on the family farm in Clark County on Sept. 28. 1924. She was raised on the family farm and attended the Lincoln School and graduated from Loyal High School. She married Robert K. Prior on June 10, 1945. Upon his death on Jan. 2, 1975, Dorothy was the sole proprietor of Prior’s Jewelry and Gifts in Loyal. She was a very successful businesswoman, earning the Loyal Citizen of the Year award. She was an active member of the Loyal United Methodist Church, the church choir, a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Sunday school teacher and participated in many fund raising events. She was an active member of the Loyal community for years, and had served as den mother; Girl Scout leader, and officer of the Loyal Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Star. Dorothy enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Mead Lake. She spent the last 11 years at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen, where she lived with Alzheimer’s disease.

She is survived by three sons, Michael (Janice) Prior, Middleton, Scott Prior, Greenwood, and Mithchell (Kristi) Prior, Phoenix, Ariz.; a grandson, Matthew (Shana) Prior, Madison; a great-grandson, Landon Prior, Madison; two sisters, Jean Lavey, Nekoosa, and Betty (Georgr) Pabish, Austin Texas; and three sisters-in-law, Helen Kronberger, Marshfield, Ruth Kronberger, Neillsville, and Mary Kronberger, Wisconsin Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Lulu Kronberger, her husband, Robert Prior; a daughter, Maureen Ellen Prior, who died in a car accident on July 31, 1976; three brothers, Ivan, Wayne, and Jerry Kronberger, and two brothers-in-law, Georgr Pabish and Norbert Lavey.
