Weller, Charles (22 Apr. 1868 - 20 Sept. 1951)

Charles Weller passed away Thursday morning after being ill since last Sunday when he suffered a paralytic stroke. The body will lie in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home until Sunday when funeral services will be held at the Zion Lutheran church at 2:00 P.M., Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating.

Funeral services for Karl Weller were held in Zion Lutheran church Sunday afternoon, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were William, Edward and Walter Mueller and Clarence, Arnold and George Weller, all nephews of the deceased. Flower girls were Ruth Ann Wiersig, Janice Mae Wiersig, Carol Wiersig, Patsy Wiersig, Carron Runzheimer, Janice Schjoneman, Isla Schneider and Bonnie Fischer.

Mr. Weller was born on April 22, 1868, in Weisek, Germany, and, at the age of 13, he came to the United States with his parents. They settled in Sheboygan county but moved to Colby a year later and pioneered on a farm in Marathon county. As a young man, he worked on farms and in lumber camps in the northern part of the state. In 1891, he purchased a farm four miles east of Colby, Wis. His marriage to Elizabeth Hoffmann took place on January 8, 1896, in Colby, Wis. They retired in 1937 and moved to Colby where they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1946.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Miss Edna Weller, Mrs. Fred (Hattie) Turner and Mrs. Charles (Tillie) Calvert of Chicago, a son, Ervin Weller of Marshfield; three brothers, Louis and Fred of Colby and William of Milwaukee, and a sister, Mrs. Louise Butler of Colby, Wis.

Mr. Weller was known to many as a man of excellent habits, fine moral character and generous impulses, always endeavoring to perform his various duties honestly and well.

Out of town people here for the funeral besides the children were Mr. and Mrs. William Weller, Mrs. Clara Kuss, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Weller and family, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Weller and daughter, Sandra, all of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kanter of Unity, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Beisner of Dorchester, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mueller and Edward Mueller of Athens, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hoffman of Stratford, Mr. and Mrs. Kastorff and children of Fond du Lac and Mrs. Emma Hoffmann of Chicago.

Small Wisconsin Cyclone.

Colby, Wis., July 5.--A small tornado passed south of this place, blowing down barns, scattering lumber and doing other damage. Many farmers of the town of Hull met with losses. Charles Weller's cheese factory was unroofed and blown from the foundation.
