Weix, Mary Ellen (Marriage - 16 Sept. 1950)

Mary Ellen Weix of Colby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Weix, and Norbert Ernest Dittner of Madison, exchanged marriage vows at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, Saturday, Sept. 16, Rev. Raymond Schultz of Abbotsford officiating. Mary Ann Weix, twin sister of the bride, was maid of honor and Laura Weix, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. The groom was attended by Paul Lasey of Madison, a friend, and Paul Weix, a brother of the bride.

The bride was attired in a gown of white satin with net yoke, long sleeves with points over the wrists and long train. Her fingertip veil was held in place by a beaded headdress. She also wore pearls, a gift of the groom. Her bouquet consisted of red roses and white carnations. Her attendants wore colonial style satin dresses, in aqua and dusty rose, respectively, and their bouquets consisted of pink and blue carnations. Both also wore pearls, gifts of the bride. The groom’s mother wore a black suit dress and the bride’s mother wore a printed crepe dress. Their bouquets consisted of white and pink carnations.

A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents which was decorated with pink, blue and white streamers and a three-tier wedding cake.

The couple left on a wedding trip to Southern Wisconsin and Illinois and will be at home after October 1 at Madison where the groom is employed by Oscar Mayers.

Out of town guests were from Minnesota, Illinois, Madison, Thorp, Milladore, Marshfield, Antigo, Wausau, Edgar and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
