Harriet M. Buker

GREENWOOD -- Harriet M. Buker, age 90, of Greenwood, died Feb. 28, 2008, at the Wells Nature View, with her family by her side. A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008, at the Hansen Funeral Home, Marshfield. The Rev. Joseph Follmar will officiate. Interment of ashes will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Buker was born Aug. 29, 1917, in Sturgeon Bay, a daughter of Harry and Margaret (Leonhardt) Jindra. Following graduation from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1935, Harriet worked for the Sturgeon Bay Postal Service.

On April 26, 1941, in Sturgeon Bay, the former Harriet Jindra was united in holy marriage to Cyril O. Buker.

Mrs. Buker was employed as a nurse's aide in Black River Falls and later in that same capacity at the Neillsville Hospital, until the time of her retirement in 1988.

Mrs. Buker was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother Harriet enjoyed traveling. Mrs. Buker was an excellent cook and enjoyed making delicious meals for her family.

She is lovingly survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Cyril Buker, Greenwood; children, Bonnie Buker, Withee, Connie (David) Sochan, Marshfield, Lee (Karen) Buker, New Berlin, Patrick (Barbara) Buker, Chippewa Falls, Robert Buker, Marathon City, Thomas (Marcia) Buker, Antigo, and Judy (Michael) Dreikosen, Edgar; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A sister, Joy, of Sturgeon Bay, further survives.
