Miller, Harley (16 January 1931 - 25 February 2008)

Harley Miller, 77, of Neillsville died Monday, February 25, 2008, at his home.

Harley Miller was born January 16, 1931, at home in Neillsville, the son of Otto and Josephine (Lezotte) Miller. He attended St. John’s Grade School and Neillsville High School, and then was united in marriage to Helen Anderson at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville October 21, 1950. A year later, he entered the United States Navy and served four years in the Philippines during the Korean Conflict. When he returned home he farmed and also worked for Surge and the Farmer’s Union Co-op in Neillsville.

Harley was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville. He was a member of the Happy Times Trail Blazers Club, and his hobby was his three MTD and one Murray riding lawn mowers.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; one son, Rick Buchsteiner of Hudson; six daughters, Kathleen Marie (Waymond) Lee of Jacksonville, FL; Karen Joe Bleecker of Huntsville, AL; Koreen Sue Williams of Neillsville; Kay Ann (Chris) Gruber of Neillsville; Karla Jean (John) Koplein of Sherry and Kimberly Jan Nordahl of Alma Center; 16 grand-children; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Florence (Orville) Evanson of Wausau.

Harley was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth and Charles; one grandson, Kurt Graves; and brothers and sisters.

A Memorial Service for Harley will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 29, 2008, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Terry Marg will officiate. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday at the Gesche Funeral Home.

Honorary casket bearers are: Peter Schmidt and Todd Opelt.

The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Harley’s family with funeral arrangements.
