Harms, Maxine Fay (Marriage - 1 SEP 1941)

The Owen Community hall was the setting of a lovely wedding uniting Miss Maxine Fay Harms, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Harms of Owen, and Elmer George Frey of Plymouth, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Frey of Owen, in marriage Monday, Sept. 1, at 12 o’clock noon. The Rev. Leo Chapman of Spokeville officiated. Music was furnished by Mrs. J. H. Rostad and Miss Violet Johnson, accompanied by Miss Dorothy Powers.

A white velveray organdy gown was chosen by the bride, whose trailing veil fell from a cap-shaped head-dress with white orange blossom and rosebud trim. She carried white roses and sweet peas. Miss Betty Capes of Unity, a cousin of the bride, attended as maid of honor wearing a teal blue marquisette formal gown, while Miss Shirley Mead of Greenwood, bridesmaid, was attired in pink rayon taffeta. Both attendants had bouquets of sweet peas.

Immediately after the ceremony, dinner was served in the dining room of the Community hall after which the bride and groom left on a three to four weeks’ trip to the west coast. After October 1, they will be at home in Plymouth, where Mr. Frey is a field man in the Sheboygan County Dairy Herd Improvement Association No. 1.

Mrs. Frey attended the Owen high school, and her husband was graduated from the University of Wisconsin short course in agriculture in 1935.

Guests at the wedding included the following: Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Capes of Unity; Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Capes and family of Longwood; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Powers of Colby; Mrs. T. Adams and family, Mrs. Emmet Lewis and family, Mrs. Fred Schottler of Withee; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Frew and sons of Lake Geneva; Mr. and Mrs. Justin Jakowicz of Thorp; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Enders, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Payne, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ubbelonde of Plymouth; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Siegfried and Mr. and Mrs. George Glander of Adell; Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Moths of Random Lake; Miss Goldie Antone of Hammond, Ind.
