Frome, Hattie (28 Oct. 1881 - 24 Dec. 1949)

Mrs. Louis Frome, nee Hattie Radtke, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, at her home in Colby, a heart attack being the cause of her death. She had been suffering from a heart ailment for several years. Funeral services were held at the Zion Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment was made in the Colby Memorial cemetery (Colby, Wisconsin). Pall bearers were Glenn Frome, Edwin Frome, Milford Frome, Junior Tesmer, Ray Franz and Gordon Mellenthin.

Mrs. Frome, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Radtke, two Colby pioneers, was born in the town of Colby on October 28th, 1881, thus reaching the age of 68 years and two months. She was married to Louis Frome on November 27, 1902. They made their home on a farm in the town of Colby until this year when they moved into the city of Colby, Wis.

Surviving are her husband and five children - Mrs. Carl (Verna) Elstrom of Colby, Frederic Frome of Beaver Bay, Minn., Mrs. Joseph (Norma) Scholl of Merton, Willard Frome of Auburndale and Wesley Frome of the town of Colby, Wis. Also one sister, Mrs. Henry (Edna) Franz of Colby, nine grand children and two great grand children.

Her life was gentle, but, like the still waters, it was deep. She cared more for the comforts of her family than social pleasures. Her hand was never weary, her step never failed in ministering onto, caring for, waiting upon those who were in any way dependent upon her.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Frederic Frome of Beaver Bay, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Scholl and children of Merton, Lee Elstrom of Modesto, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Seboe of Horicon, Mr. and Mrs. Arland Elstrom of Chicago, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Olson of Marshfield and Mr. and Mrs. Willard Frome of Auburndale, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Braeger, and Mr. and Mrs. August Glinke of Watertown and Mrs. Herbert A. Muench of Waukesha.
