Pohl, Irene (24 July 1901 - 21 Feb. 1949)

Mrs. Ervin Pohl, the former Irene Tennis of Unity, Wisconsin, died at Milwaukee Monday morning, cancer being the cause of her death. She had been ill since fall. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Rev. N. B. Beschta officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

The deceased was born in Unity on July 24th, 1901. She married Ervin Pohl at Colby in 1926.

Surviving are her husband, her mother, Rosa Tennis of Unity, three sons, Arnold, age 20, Robert, age 17 and Tommy, age 10, all of Milwaukee, and three brothers, Sylvester, Bernard and Melvin Tennis, all of Unity.

A requiem high mass was read Friday morning at 9:30 o’clock at St. Mary’s Catholic church for Mrs. Ervin Pohl, who died Feb. 21st at the age of 47 years, as was reported in last week’s Phonograph. Rev. N. B. Beschta conducted the services and burial took place in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Ed Feit, O. W. Schultz, Frank Will, Tony Will, Bernhard Newman and Carl Domer. The children’s choir sang at the services.

Attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Nihkinen, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Nihkinen, and Mrs. Cecil Simmons, all of Lake Forest, Ill., William Will and Mr. and Mrs. John Pribnow, Jr., of Loyal; Harry Orth of Adams, Mrs. Frank Lane of Chicago, Ill.; and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Pohl, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Krause, Mrs. Edwin Riemer, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Kraut, Donald Kraut, and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kind, all of Curtiss.
