Larson, Mathea (21 Aug. 1869 - 3 Mar. 1954)

Funeral services for Mrs. Lars Larson, who died last week Wednesday morning at the age of 84 years, were held Saturday afternoon at the Curtiss Evangelical Lutheran church, Rev. O. K. Odland officiating, and burial was made in the Evangelical Lutheran cemetery west of Curtiss.

Mrs. Larson, the former Mathea Amundsen, was born on August 21, 1869, in Norway where she received her education. On September 1, 1888, she was married at Amherst to Lars Larson who died in 1934. She lived on a farm one mile west of Abbotsford for the past 66 years. She was a member of the Curtiss Evangelical Lutheran church and the Ladies’ Aid Society and was one of the last of the pioneer settlers of the community.

Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Albert (Louise) Bakke and Mrs. Arthur (Alma) Thompson of Curtiss, Mrs. Marius (Agnes) Hansen of Seumour, Elma Larson of Wausau, Mabel Larson of Menasha and Mrs. Kenneth (Helen) Kramer of Belleville; three sons, Martin Larson, at home, Oscar Larson of Woodburn, Ore., and Malcolm Larson of Weyauwega; three brothers, John of Clam Falls and Ole and Anton of Norway; 14 grand children and seven great grandchildren. A daughter, Ruth, a sister, Mrs. Oluf Berg, and a brother, Oluf, preceded her in death.
