Hutchins, Clarence H. (27 MAR 1874 - 5 JAN 1941)

Clarence H. Hutchins, 66, died of a heart attack, Jan. 5, 1941, while shoveling snow at his farm home in the town of Unity, northeast of Loyal. Approximately an hour after leaving the house his body was discovered by his wife.

Clarence Ransom Hutchins was born in the town of Osceola, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, March 27, 1874. He came with his parents to Unity township Clark County, when a small boy and there he grew to manhood. He was married to Anna Catlin of the township of Sherman, Oct. 23, 1901. They purchased a piece of land, and in the thirty-nine years of their married life they developed from this wild land to a pleasant farm home.

Mr. Hutchins was interested in the worthwhile activities of his community and served as a member of the school board for several terms. He was also a member of the Modern Woodman of America.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Iva Foelske, town of Beaver, and Mrs. Orel Schwieso, Loyal; one son, Delbert of Spencer; two brothers Warren of Riplinger and Oscar of Loyal; four sisters, Mrs. Eliza Nichols, Loyal, Mrs. Chas. Smith, Rapid City, S.D., Mrs. Ben Dietsche, Riplinger, and Mrs. Jesse Lyon, Hingham, Mont., and several grandchildren. One child died in infancy and a brother, Herbert, died eight years ago.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at the Hutchins home at 1 o’clock and in the Methodist Church in Loyal at 2 o’clock. The Rev. Orlando Jewell was in charge of the services and burial was in the Loyal cemetery. Serving as pall bearers were Arthur Beisner, Frank Seefeldt, Fred Seefeldt, Louie Seefeldt, Ed Meacham, and Ira Meacham. Those in charge of the many beautiful flowers were Mrs. Chas. Justman, Mrs. Walter Bruesewitz, Mrs. Arthur Beisner, Mrs. Ira Meacham, Mrs. Herman Seefeldt, and Mrs. Lee Schofield.

Relatives from away who attended the funeral were Mrs. Jesse Lyon, Hingham, Montana, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Smith and Mr. and Mrs. William Erickson, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Chester Sheldon and son , Wausau; Mrs. Sam Hause and Mrs. John Fuller and son, Unity; Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Catlin, Wis. Rapids; and Mr.. and Mrs. Otto Catlin, Neillsville. Others from away attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Blaubach and daughter, Athens; and Mr. George Borth and Mrs. Ted Bey, Marshfield.
