Kueling, Richard (26 Apr 1914 - 21 Jan 2008)

Richard Kuehling, 93, Colby, Wisconsin, died Monday, January 21, 2008, at Colonial Center in Colby, Wis.

Service will be held Saturday, February 16, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby, Wis. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

Richard was born April 26, 1914 to Otto and Amanda (Glaman) Kuehling. He graduated from Unity High School in 1932.

He married Myrtle Davis on May 7, 1938, in Clinton, Iowa. He worked in a Chicago restaurant before moving back to Colby in 1938 and operating Jack’s Bar.

Richard drove truck for Matt Orth and school bus for Marshfield Bus. In 1942, he worked in a defense plant in Washington. In 1945 upon returning home, he started farming in the town of Unity until 2002 when he moved to Colby, Wis.

He was a rural mail carrier sub for Unity, a former member of the Unity School Board and Unity Commercial Club. Richard served on the Trinity Lutheran Church Council, Unity and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Colby, Wis.

Richard is survived by his wife, Myrtle, Colby; son Denny (Carol) Kuehling, Unity; daughters Mary Harwood, Abbotsford, Rose Viergutz, Sault Sainte Marie, MI, Carol Ann Kuehling, Chippewa Falls; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Elizabeth and Irene; and two brother, Noran and Harold Kuehling.

Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church Day Care Center.

Maurina Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
