Calvin K. Gordee

Calvin K. Gordee, 85, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Gold Horizons CBRF under the loving care of Ministry Home Care Hospice Service.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at Faith Lutheran Church. The Rev. Tricia Turner will officiate. Maldon Plank will provide music with Pam Nikolai serving as soloist.

Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Gordee's grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Hansen Funeral Home and again one hour prior to service time Saturday at the church.

Calvin Kenneth Gordee was born March 14, 1922, in Greenwood, a son of Harry and Stella (Hium) Gordee. Calvin attended Greenwood schools. On June 19, 1943, at the Ebenezer Church of Christ in Stratford, Calvin was united in holy marriage to the former Armella Heller.

Mr. Gordee was a licensed cheesemaker for more than 45 years. He worked at dairies in Greenwood, Neillsville, and Marshfield and for the last 15 years in Arpin.

Calvin was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Marshfield. He enjoyed playing dice games, spending time with his family, following the Packers and especially the Brewers. Calvin had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh.

Mr. Gordee is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Armella of Marshfield, his children, Michael (Mary) Gordee, Appleton, Richard (Lou) Gordee, Hortonville, James (Anita) Gordee, Great Bend, Kan., Harry (Karen) Gordee, Eau Claire, and Kathryn (David) Bliven, Wausau.

Calvin is further survived by 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Beulah (Melvin) Alperstett, Verla Rear and Avis Gordee; brother, Everett (Esther) Gordee; daughter-in-law Dianne Gordee, Marshfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding Mr. Gordee in death were his son, Robert; brother, Earl; and sister, Agnes Bernat.
