Joseph W. Landino

NEILLSVILLE -- Joseph William Landino, 102, of Neillsville died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at the Gesche Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. in Neillsville City Cemetery. A memorial service will be held later this summer.

Joseph was born Oct. 1, 1905, in Groveland, N.Y., to Joseph and Generosa (Muschiano) Landino. Joseph married Edith Gerrard of Campbellton, New Brunswick, Canada, on Dec. 28, 1937. He was employed by International Paper Company in Canada as a forester until 1933. He then accepted a position as camp superintendent with the U.S. Forest Service in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Park Falls until 1938. In 1938, he went to work for Sterling Pulp and Paper Company in Eau Claire, until he retired in 1972.

He is survived by his two daughters, Mary J. (Mike) Finney and Margaret A. (Bruce) Rakestraw, both of Hatfield; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
