Abbotsford, Wis. - Mar. 19, 1953

At a meeting of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, all the officers were re-elected. They are Mrs. Ed Hoeft, president; Mrs. Fred Engelking, junior vice president; Mrs. Ervin Bitter, treasurer; Mrs. Leo Apfelbeck, chaplain; Mrs. Norma Johnson, conductress; Mrs. Emma Burmeister, guard; Mrs. Lewis Goldamer, trustee; Mrs. Clint Bates, patriotic instructor.

The Girl Scouts elected the following officers: Miss Barbara Pittsley, president; Miss Sharon Waldhart, vice president, Miss Adelle Marcott, secretary; Miss Janice Waldhart, treasurer.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Feind and daughter of Rochester, Minn., spent several days here as her brother, Pvt. Tom Hoffmann, returned from Korea.

Mrs. Vern Steffen visited several days in Appleton with relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Francis Melvin left for California to visit relatives.

Delores Baronsky, a senior at Abbotsford high school, won first place in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary essay contest, it was announced Tuesday. All students wrote essays in the English classes. The subject was "Democracy Is What You Make It." Delores will receive a prize of $10.00, the local award, and her essay will be submitted to a state committee for further consideration. State winners go on to a national contest.
