Orth, Roger (2 Oct. 1929 - 29 Aug. 1952)

Roger Orth, age 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Orth of Colby, died Friday at Peoria, Ill., where he had been working on a high line. The accident occurred shortly before noon when Roger was severely burned by hot wires. A heart attack followed and efforts to revive him were made but were not effective.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Rev. Frank Brickl officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Leon Steinwand, Raymond Tesmer, Harold Baumgart, Paul Fricke, Sylvester Tesmer and Bernard Tesmer.

Roger was born in Colby, Wisconsin on October 2, 1929, and is a graduate of St. Mary’s Parochial School and Colby High School. For the past two years, he had been working for a construction company in Peoria. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Holy Name Society of Colby, Wis. He was a young man of sound habit and of a congenial disposition. His sudden death brought sorrow to his many friends in Colby as well as the members of his family. He was to have been married to a Peoria girl.

Surviving are his parents, four brothers, Norman of Washington, D.C., Joseph and Emery of Toluca, Ill., and Conrad, Jr., of Forreston, Ill.; four sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Violeta) Luepke of Toluca, Mrs. Edward (Jeanette) Chamberlain of Lyncroft, N.J., Mrs. Gertrude Pudlas of Forreston and Mrs. Alice Frook of Fond du Lac.

All brothers and sisters were here for the funeral.
