Schmidt, August H. (22 Jan. 1874 - 13 Aug. 1952)

August H. Schmidt died Wednesday morning at 6:45 o’clock at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gerhardt Schmidt, in the town of Colby, Wis. Mr. Schmidt suffered a stroke three weeks ago. The body will lie in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home until Saturday noon. Funeral services will be held at the Zion Lutheran church Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

Mr. Schmidt was born in Watertown on January 22, 1874. He married Emma Hallbian in Milwaukee on January 20, 1897. They moved to Spencer in 1918 and to Colby in 1920 and were engaged in farming. His son, Gerhardt, bought their farm in the fall of 1929 when he retired from active work.

Surviving are two sons, Ernest, of Marengo, Ill., and Gerhardt of Colby, six grand children and nine great grand children.

Mr. Schmidt will be remembered by his sons and many friends as a good Christian, honest in all his dealings, who always endeavored to do his duties to the best of his ablility.
