Thompson, Mary Louise (Marriage - 5 June 1952)

Miss Mary Louise Thompson, daughter of Mrs. Victoria Thompson of Curtiss, and Clarence Melvin Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nelson of Abbotsford, were united in marriage during a candlelight service at 7:00 o’clock last Thursday evening at the Evangelical Lutheran church in Curtiss, Rev. O. K. Odland reading the marriage ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her uncle Arthur Thompson. Attending the bride were Mrs. Eldred Schraufnagel, as matron of honor, and Miss Dorothy Thompson, cousin of the bride, as bridesmaid. The groom was attended by Howard Rannow of Colby as best man and Donald Keiser of Abbotsford as groomsman. Ushers were Edred Schraufnagel and Ralph Peterson.

The bride wore her mother’s wedding dress of embroidered net with a silk veil attached to a Juliet cap of seed pearls. She carried a colonial bouquet of white and yellow roses. Both her attendants wore ballerina-length gowns of green frosted organdy and carried colonial bouquets of white and yellow carnations.

A reception was held at the Lutheran parish hall followed by a dance in the Memorial Hall at Dorchester, Wis.

The bride and groom are both graduates of Abbotsford High School. Prior to her marriage, the bride, a graduate of Wisconsin State College of La Crosse, taught in Neenah and Medford. The groom is a graduate of Wisconsin State College at Stevens Point.

The newlyweds will make their home on the groom’s farm when they return from a honeymoon in Northern Wisconsin.
