Sterk, Marguerite L. (8 Mar. 1908 - 8 Feb. 2006)

JANESVILLE - Marguerite Marge L. Sterk, 97, of Janesville, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home. She was born in Abbotsford, WI, on March 8, 1908, the daughter of John and Johanna (Van DerLeest) Aland, and was a graduate of Baraboo High School and the Sauk County Teacher’s College in Reedsburg. Marge married Ivan J. Reuland on Jan. 15, 1930, in Milwaukee, and they moved to Janesville in 1950. He died on Oct. 11, 1972. She later married Rudy Sterk on Aug. 17, 1979, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 2005. She had taught a few years in Merrimac. Marge was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, its Altar Society and Over 50 Club. She was also a member of the Janesville Woman’s Club, Elks Ladies and the Janesville Senior Citizen Center. She is survived by her stepson, Roger Sterk of Norman, OK; 3 step-grandchildren: Dan (Trish) Sterk of Dallas, TX, Doug Sterk and Lynann Sterk, both of Norman, OK; a step-great-grandson, Robert Allen Sterk; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends, including special friends, Bob and Helen Sweeney of Janesville. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Ivan and Rudy; her stepdaughter-in-law, Joan Sterk; 3 sisters: Frances Pagel, Ann Service, and Gladys Mistele England; and a brother, John Aland. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, with Fr. Donn Heiar presiding. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at St. John Vianney Catholic Church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass. Memorials may be made to St. John Vianney Catholic Church or St. Elizabeth’s Nursing Home. Schneider Apfel Schneider & Schneider Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of both St. Elizabeth Nursing Home and HospiceCare, Inc. of Janesville for their loving care given to Marge over the last year.
