Baumgart, Godfrey (22 Feb. 1883 - 28 July 1948)

Funeral services for Godfrey Baumgart, who lived in this vicinity since coming to the United States with his parents in 1894, and whose death was chronicled last week, were held at Zion Lutheran church Monday afternoon, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Death was caused by cancer and dropsy.

Pall bearers were John Sorenson, Angus Lamont, Sr., John Marx, Frank Panke, Emil Pokallus, Paul Pokallus. The flowers were in charge of Mrs. Floyd Eder, Mrs. Elroy Augustine, Arlyle Sachse, Lucille Gottschalk, Donna Baumgart, Darlene Flink, Garnetta Kowalk, Audrey Hederer, Shirley Young, Betty Kowalk.

Mr. Baumgart was born in Germany Feb. 22, 1893, and was married in 1903 to Minnie Prange at Colby, Wisconsin. After coming to this country he lived for a short time in Colby and then moved to a farm between Colby and Unity. Since 1945 he lived in Unity.

Surviving are his wife and five children - Ted of Colby, Fred of Owen, Ervin of Wisconsin Rapids, Helen of West Bend and Orville of Colby, Wisconsin. One son preceded him in death. Other survivors are six grandchildren, one brother and two sisters - Mrs. Mary Matheson of Westonville, Cal., Mrs. F. W. Lulloff of Colby and Charles of Fifield.

The deceased was a good Christian, honest in all his dealings, and being of a congenial and friendly disposition, had many friends who will miss him.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Miss Helen Baumgart of West Bend, Mr. and Mrs. F. Panke of Park Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Max Prange of Fond du Lac, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Prange and son of Ridgeland, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Baumgart of Fifield, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Baumgart of Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Baumgart and son, Mr. and Mrs. F. Majeski and daughter of Wisconsin Rapids.
