Zarnke, Ila Mae (Marriage - 24 June 1948)

Ila Mae Zarnke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Zarnke, Jr., of Stratford, and Edward Carl Strathmann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Strathman, exchanged marriage vows at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church at March Rapids last Thursday afternoon, June 24th, Rev. Dietrick Kuehl reading the marriage ceremony.

The bride was attended by Miss Verna Zarnke as maid of honor and Miss Lillian Schnabel and Miss Irene Dommer as bridesmaids. The groom was attended by Arnold Strathman as groomsman.

The bride was attired in a gown of satin bodice, entrained sheer skirt, with satin appliquéd flower on sides, sweetheart neckline, long sleeves with point at wrist. Her bouquet consisted of red and white roses and lilies. The maid of honor wore a dress of blue chiffon with lace inserts and her bouquet consisted of shaded pink and white and red carnations. Miss Dommer wore an orchid dress with ruffles and her bouquet consisted of yellow and shaded pink carnations.

A reception was given at the home of the bride’s parents which was decorated in white, blue, yellow and orchid streamers with white bells.

The couple left on a wedding trip to the southern part of the state and will be at home after July 1st at Colby where the groom is engaged in painting.

Out of town relatives and friends of Colby who attended the wedding and dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Strathmann, Mrs. Emil Kading, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lindner, Mrs. Hildur Strathmann and daughter, Virginia, and sons, Harold and Eugene, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Strathman, Mr. and Mrs. C. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Angus Lamont, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Kademan, Jack Frane and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Witte.

Other out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ahrens and family and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mosser of Marathon, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Parson and daughter, Doris, Mr. and Mrs. John Schwartz and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Kloth and family, Dorchester, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Zellner, Green Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Liebertz, Wausau, and Rev. and Mrs. D. H. Kuehl, town of McMillan; Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Maier, Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Schnabel and son, Brookiny; Mr. and Mrs. Gotthilf Schnabel, Oregon; Mr. and Mrs. E. Vanden Hewvel and sons, Appleton.
