Schilling, Mr./Mrs. William (50th Anniv. - 5 July 1948)

Mr. and Mrs. Schilling of the town of Frankfort observed their golden wedding anniversary Monday, July 5. The celebration started in the morning with high mass celebrated in St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, the Rev. N. B. Beschta officiating.

Two of their little granddaughters, Mary Catherine and Patricia Fahy, dressed in yellow and blue taffeta formals, respectively, carried bouquets of yellow flowers, and preceded them down the aisle of the church. Dinner and supper were served to relatives and friends at St. Mary’s gym, and in the evening a dance was held at Cherokee Hall with music by the Little Bohemian Band of Edgar.

Mr. and Mrs. Schilling were married at St. Andrew’s Catholic church at Rozellville July 7, 1898, and have lived in that community until about eight years ago, when they moved to a farm east of Colby, Wisconsin. Mrs. Schilling, the former Catherine Boland, was born Feb. 28. 1880, in New York City and came to this vicinity at the age of five.

Mr. Schilling was born June 1, 1873, at Fox Lake, and also moved to this vicinity at the age of five. Mrs. Schilling’s mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Boland, who is 92 years old, had made her home with them for the past 20 years, since the death of her husband, and has lived to celebrate the golden wedding anniversary of her daughter.

The Schillings have eight children, William Schilling, Stratford; Mrs. Walter (Adeline) Siegel, Watertown; Vernon Schilling, Milwaukee; Miss Leone Schilling, Chicago; Miss Aurelia Schilling, Milwaukee; Mrs. Thomas (Dorothy) Fahy and Sister M. Ervin (Marie), Chicago; and Karl Schilling, at home.

Those present at the celebration from out of town included Mr. and Mrs. Walter Siegel and daughter, Edith, and son, Vernon, Watertown; Mr. and Mrs. William Schilling, Stratford; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Schilling and son, Vernon, Mr. and Mrs. William Burkarth and Miss Aurelia Schilling, Milwaukee; Miss Leone Schilling, Sister M. Ervin, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fahy and children, Mary, Catherine, Patricia, Thomas and Eileen, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Christenson, Saginaw, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. John Schilling, Denver, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Pfanning, Mr. and Mrs. William Burggraf, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Weis, and Mr. and Mrs. John Drachenberg, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. George Kramer, Marathon; Mr. and Mrs. John Dietel and daughter, Margaret, Spencer; Mrs. Fred Derke, Edgar; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Rechner, Stratford.
