Raymond J. Schwanebeck

Raymond Joseph Schwanebeck, 60, died Dec. 10, 2007, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, and from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, both at the Buchanan Funeral Home, Pittsville.

Service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the town of Sherwood Cemetery, Clark County.

He was born July 25, 1947, in Neillsville to Lester and Dorothy (Jacobson) Schwanebeck. He attended Audubon Grade School, Sherwood. He graduated from Pittsville High School in 1965. Ray served with the U.S. Army as a paratrooper from 1966 to 1968 and was stationed in Germany. He married Colleen Behselich on May 1, 1970, at St. Joachim's Catholic Church, Pittsville.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sherwood, the American Legion Post 153 Palmer-Richie-Thomas and the National Liquid Waste Carriers Assn. He drove semi over-the-road for several years. He owned Schwanebeck Trucking and Central Wisconsin Septic, which serviced the Central Wisconsin area. He, along with his wife, Colleen, and their four children, opened their farm (The Corn Crib) to the public from 1986 to 1991 giving hayrides, sleigh rides, fun and enjoyment to all who came there. He enjoyed flying model airplanes and loved motor sports of all kinds.

He is survived by Colleen Schwanebeck, dearest friend and mother of his children; three daughters, Kristina Schwanebeck, Marshfield, Kelli Schwanebeck, Arpin, Jessica (Steve) Rennhack, Vesper; son, Luke Schwanebeck, Pittsville; and 10 grandchildren.

He is further survived by his parents, Lester and Dorothy Schwanebeck, Pittsville; three brothers and one sister, Arnie (Linda) Schwanebeck, Pittsville, Patsy (Richard) Bretl, Wisconsin Rapids, Lee (Cheairee) Schwanebeck, Pittsville, Dennis (Peggi) Schwanebeck, Pittsville; along with many nieces and nephews.
