FATHER LEHNEN OF STETSONVILLE DIES

In the depot at Spencer, awaiting the train for the west on his way to the St. Joseph hospital at Chippewa Falls, Father Lehnen of Stetsonville, passed away at 2:15 a. m., last Friday night, April 10. He had been suffering from a severe attack of inflammatory rheumatism which finally went to his heart, causing his death. Dr. Maxam, Nic Lehnen his brother, Adolph Vonder Haar and Mr. Denen, who accompanied him on his last trip were present when he expired.

Funeral service took place in Stetsonville Tuesday at 9 a. m. Solemn high mass was sung and three impressive sermons were delivered. In the afternoon the body was taken to the station and placed on the 2:38 train and taken to Houghton, Mich., where interment was made Wednesday. Nic Lehnen, his uncle and cousin and a number of priests, and quite a number of parishioners accompanied the body to its last resting place. Twenty-two priests and the vicar general of the diocese attended the obsequies in Stetsonville. He leaves his aged parents, a brother and sister to mourn his loss.

Father Lehnen was born July 4, 1879 in the village of Auw, in Germany. At the age of 8 he came across to this country and went to Houghton, Mich., where he made his stay with uncles until he began his studies for the priesthood, which he made in Freiburg. After completing his studies he was ordained priest in the city of Luzern, Switzerland, July 12, *** Note: The rest of article was cut off and was not available at the time of transcription.
