Gayken, Weert (15 Jan. 1880 - 14 Feb. 1945)

Funeral services for Weert Gayken, age 65, of Curtiss, who died Wednesday morning, Feb. 14, at the farm home of his son, Sylvester Gayken, of the town of Hoard, where he had been visiting for a few days, were held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Griebenow Funeral Home at Owen, Wis. He had been in poor health for some time. Internment was made in the Pine Hill cemetery.

Pallbearers were Carl Sheets, Aug. Dunow, Felix Schiszik, Frank Lenzer, Harry Peissig, and Henry House. In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Harry Peissig, Mrs. Ted Peissig, and Mrs. Walter Nicks.

Mr. Gayken was born in Iowa on Jan. 15, 1880, and was married to Minnie Aldinger at Britt, Iowa, on Jan. 8, 1910. In 1915, the Gaykens moved onto a farm in the town of Hoard, Clark county, and lived there until three years ago when they moved onto the Otto Dunow farm in Hoard.

Surviving, besides his widow, are two daughters, Mrs. Lester (Ida) Bowen of Curtiss and Mrs. Franklin (Frances) Peissig of Minneapolis; four sons, George of Wilhelmina, Ore., and Lee, Clifford and Sylvester of Hoard; nine grand children; three sisters, Mrs. H. Helm of Woden, Iowa, Mrs. H. Holck of Britt, Iowa, and Mrs. John Molck of Rockford, Mich., and four brothers, Hye Gayken of Gruek, Minn., John Gayken of Albert Lee, Minn., Frank Gayken of Britt, Iowa, and Dick Gayken of Waterloo, Iowa.
