Curtiss, Wis. - Oct. 18, 1945

Msdmes: Geo. Hoff, Dick Pohl, Martha Harmel and Franklin Tonn attended the 50th Anniversary celebration of Zion’s Lutheran Ladies’ Aid at Colby on Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Tonn of Milwaukee, Wisconsin spent the week-end with the former’s mother, Mrs. Frank Tonn, Sr.

Mrs. Gustav Kobs of Chicago arrived here on Monday to visit at the home of her son, Ray Kobs, and other relatives.

Mrs. Jos. Skinner of Bloomington, Wis., arrived last week to visit at the home of her daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Chet. Lew.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stockmeyer and daughter, Nancy, of LaCrosse, spent the week-end with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Stockmeyer.

Mrs. Leon Ankney returned to her home at Cornell on Monday after spending several days at the Chet. Lew home.

Mrs. Arthur Thompson and Mrs. E. M. Peterson of Hoard and Mrs. Stella Brady and daughter, Beulah, attended a leaders’ meeting of the Home Makers Club at Abbotsford on Thursday, which was conducted by Miss Hill, county home agent.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Laabs left on Thursday for Rochester, Minn., for a physical check-up at the Mayo Clinic.

Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Gilbertson and the latter’s daughter, Zora Coleman of Columbus, O., and Halvor Gilbertson of Chicago visited the past week with the men’s mother, Mrs. Mattie Gilbertson, and sister, Mrs. Martha Harmel.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Matthias spent Tuesday with the Adolph Matthias family in Taylor county.

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Thompson entertained relatives on Wednesday evening to celebrate the former’s birthday anniversary.

The pupils of the Curtiss and the Midway schools enjoyed a two-day vacation last week while the teachers attended the teachers convention at Eau Claire.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fricke spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Hennlich and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Meyer who were vacationing at Tomahawk. They all returned home on Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Grant Herrick spent the past week at Milwaukee where Mr. Herrick attended the state convention of the Masonic Lodge and Mrs. Herrick visited her son and daughter in law, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Herrick, Jr., at Columbus.
