THORP -- Sophie A. Mikolainis, 99, of Thorp died Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at Zastrow Care Center in Gilman.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2006, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. Burial will follow in Old St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary service, Friday at the Thorp Funeral Home.

She was born July 12, 1906, in Thorp to Jacob and Helen (Jarosz) Rogus. She married Kase Mikolainis on Sept. 1, 1935, at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. In 1941, the couple bought timbered land in the town of Withee which they cleared and built all of the buildings. They retired in the late 1960s and moved to Thorp. Kase predeceased her April 12, 1979.

She is survived by her son, Donald Mikolainis, Thorp; daughter, Jolanta (Ron) Grzeszkowiak, Sheldon; five grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
