Riehle, Merceda (Marriage - 13 Oct. 1945)

Miss Merceda Riehle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Riehle, and Lea Smart, son of Mrs. Anna Smart, were united in marriage at a double ring ceremony at St. Bernard’s Catholic church at Abbotsford Saturday morning, Oct. 13th. The Rev. Francis Brockman read the service before the nuptial high mass which was sung by Rev. Nicholas Beschta of Colby, Wis. Attending the couple were Mrs. Loretta Drewek, sister of the bride, as matron of honor, Mrs. Norma Schillinger, sister of the groom, bridesmaid, Mike Drewek, Walter Schillinger, Joseph Handrik and Wilfred Riehle.

The bride was attired in a gown of white satin net, and lace trimmed and her bouquet consisted of pink roses, snapdragons and pompons. Mrs. Drewek wore a dress of pink satin with net trim and her corsage consisted of roses, snapdragons and pompons. The bridesmaids wore similar dresses of blue taffeta with net trim and their corsages consisted of pink roses, snapdragons and pompons.

A wedding reception was given at the bride’s home which was nicely decorated in blue, pink and white for the occasion.

The newlyweds will make their home on the farm of the groom’s mother, Mrs. Anna Smart.
